Community Youth Worker Counselling Program
The Community Youth Worker Program is designed to aid youth and their families that may be experiencing:
Family problems
Problems with relationships
Inappropriate verbal and non verbal behaviours
Attentional problems including hyperactivity and impulsivity
School absenteeism
Conduct disorders
Disorganization
Chronic health problems and slow recuperation from illness
Problems keeping up and succeeding in school
The Community Youth Worker Program Offers:
Individual or group counselling for the child or youth
Support for the parent or caregivers
Counselling goals:
Offer children a safe place to talk about their feelings
Learn about personal safety
Increase self esteem and empower children with knowledge and skills
Practice healthy ways to express anger, hurt, sadness etc.
Help develop problem-solving and coping skills
Learn to develop and acquire healthy life skills and lifestyle choices
Increase the ability of youth to experience success at home, school, and in the community
Other goals may be included based on each child or youth’s individual need
